Srinagar, Jun 23 (KNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Amarnath pilgrimage.
Sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, top officials of intelligence agencies, paramilitary forces, police and civil administration attended the meeting.
They said that Amit Shah took stock of the security situation and was given a detailed briefing by the officials concerned. "He was apprised about the situation along the International Border as well as the Line of Control."
Sources said that Shah gave directions to the security agencies to ensure peaceful atmosphere in the Union Territory and incident free Yatra.
The 62-day-long annual yatra will begin on July 1 and continue till August 31.
Earlier, in the day Amit Shah addressed a massive rally after he landed in Jammu for a 2-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He then flew to Srinagar to attend an event at SKICC Srinagar. After the culmination of the event he chaired a security review meet for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra. (KNS).
