Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNS): The final phase of campaigning for the Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha seat concluded with a flurry of energetic rallies and vibrant road shows held throughout the constituency on Wednesday.

 

As candidates made their last-ditch efforts to sway voters, the political landscape buzzed with fervor and anticipation.

 

Supporters gathered in large numbers to catch glimpses of their preferred candidates, while speeches echoed promises and pledges for the region's development.

 

With the culmination of these spirited events, the stage is now set for voters to make their crucial decision on polling day.

 

The voting day for the Jammu-Reasi constituency is set for April 26th of April with more than 17.80 lakh voters eligible to participate in the electoral process by casting their ballots.

 

Spanning across 18 assembly segments in four districts, namely Reasi, Samba, Jammu, and Rajouri, the Jammu-Reasi parliamentary constituency has emerged as a pivotal battleground in the electoral arena.

 

News agency KNS reported that a total of 22 candidates, representing various political parties and independents, are in contention, each seeking to sway the electorate with their manifestos and promises.

 

According to data released by the office of the Returning Officer for the 5-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency, the constituency boasts 17,80,835 registered voters, comprising 9,21,095 male, 8,59,712 female, and 28 transgender electors. Additionally, 37,822 service voters, including 37,025 male and 797 female, are part of the electoral roll, underscoring the diverse demographic composition of the electorate.

 

Among the candidates vying for the parliamentary seat, notable contenders include the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) two-time incumbent MP, Jugal Kishore, and the Jammu & Kashmir Congress Working President, Raman Bhalla.

 

The electoral fray has witnessed high-profile campaign efforts, with Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur, extending their support to Jugal Kishore, while senior Congress leaders Sachin Pilot and Raj Babbar rallying behind Raman Bhalla.

 

As the campaigning fervor reached its crescendo, political rallies and road shows reverberated across the constituency, with candidates addressing crowds and outlining their vision for the region's development and prosperity.

 

The Election Commission, in tandem with law enforcement agencies, has assured stringent security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of polls and uphold the sanctity of the electoral process.

 

As citizens brace themselves to exercise their democratic right, all eyes are on April 26th, when the fate of candidates will be sealed in the ballot box. Meanwhile, Returning Officer, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, assured citizens of robust security arrangements and overall preparedness for a smooth polling process.

 

Vaishya emphasized the comprehensive measures undertaken to ensure the safety and integrity of the electoral process.

 

With polling scheduled for April 26th in the Jammu Raisi constituency, Vaishya conveyed confidence in the security apparatus, stating that law and order situations are firmly under control.

 

He reiterated that all necessary precautions have been taken to facilitate free and fair elections, assuring voters of a safe environment to exercise their democratic rights.

 

"The security arrangements in place are robust and extensive, aimed at safeguarding the sanctity of the electoral process," stated Vaishya during. "We have deployed adequate personnel and resources to ensure that polling stations remain secure and accessible to voters."

 

He affirmed that the Election Commission, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, has left no stone unturned in addressing potential challenges and maintaining order during the electoral proceedings.

 

The Returning Officer reiterated his appeal to voters to exercise their franchise responsibly and urged them to cooperate with election officials and security personnel deployed across polling stations. (KNS)
