Community engagement must to prevent drug abuse: SSP Baramulla

Baramulla January 17 (KNS): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure articulated a vision for enhanced policing, robust community engagement and the prevention of substance abuse in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. 

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the SSP elucidated the measures implemented by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, particularly within the Baramulla district, against the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking.

SSP while appealing to general public disseminated information regarding the resolute and stringent stance adopted by the police force in the preceding year against perpetrators of scams and frauds within the district. He unequivocally assures residents that no semblance of nepotism or bias shall be countenanced by Baramulla police, asserting that “each and every individual shall be treated equally under the purview of law”.

Expressing gratitude, SSP Amod extends his appreciation to the masses of the district for their unwavering and steadfast support, beseeching them to persist in their advocacy, underscoring that “our populace constitutes our bulwark of support”.

The Senior Superintendent of Police briefs regarding the confiscation of narcotics and psychotropic substances in the district. He details the seizure of contraband in 27 instances across Police Stations Uri, Boniyar, Pattan, Kreeri, Kunzer and Tangmarg, subsequently annihilated.
 
The confiscated substances encompass 6.303 kilograms of Heroin, 63.413 kilograms of Poppy Straw, 207 grams of Ganja, 652 grams of Cannabis, 600 grams of Cannabis Powder, 3.950 kilograms of Bang Bosa, 953 grams of Charas, 1.120 kilograms of Charas Powder & 127 grams of Fukki, collectively valued in crores, were eradicated at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora, in the presence of a constituted committee led by DySP DAR DPL Baramulla, DySP ANTF Kashmir, DySP CID CI Pulwama, Executive Magistrate Kunzer, Reader to SSP Baramulla, Field Inspector of Pollution Control Board, IC Godown, and other Police officers of the District.

SSP Amod underscores that officers are at the disposal of the populace 24/7 for their welfare, with the SSP office maintaining operational hours until 7 p.m. He implores citizens to rally behind the police force in the collective pursuit of transforming Baramulla into a "narcotic-free" district.
 
He asserts, "Our foremost objective for 2023 was to ensure the perpetuation of peace and harmony within the district, with the concomitant objective of maintaining Baramulla as a bastion free from the scourge of narcotics, an endeavor in which we triumphed."

SSP Amod also counsels citizens on the judicious use of social media platforms, urging them to refrain from disseminating or posting any content of a sensitive nature. He admonishes social media users that stringent actions will be meted out against purveyors of hate and terror.
 
Responding to an inquiry regarding the aspiration for a "militancy-free" district, he avers that incidents of terror have witnessed a decline, underscoring the indispensable requirement for continued support from the populace to fulfill this vision of the JK police, particularly in Baramullah.

In conclusion, SSP Amod Ashok earnestly implores the residents of Baramulla to eschew involvement in terror activities and align with the police department to ensure the district's safety and security.(KNS)
