Says, Departmental Farms are undergoing complete transformation phase

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 13 (KNS):  The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited seed multiplication farm Tapper Kreeri and took stock of post harvesting operations there.


During the visit, the Director toured different blocks and poly houses at the farm and held discussions with concerned officers and technical experts.

  Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture expressed satisfaction over the production/ productivity of different vegetable crops. He reiterated the department's commitment of ensuring that sufficient quantities of seed/ seedlings of different agricultural crops are made available to the farmers of the region well in time.

He also highlighted the importance of introducing new varieties of different agricultural crops (with more production and productivity) at the farm and helping farmers of the area to get acquainted with the benefits of introducing such varieties. He also said that the departmental Farms are undergoing a phase of complete transformation.

On the occasion, Director Agriculture discussed some innovative ideas regarding the cultivation of different crops with the officers and technical experts of the farm. He asked the concerned officers to adopt latest technologies during the cultivation of different crops so that the same could be replicated at the farmer’s field in a comprehensive manner.

Earlier, Farm Manager S.M.Farm Tapper Charan Gurdev Singh gave a detailed presentation of various post harvesting operations at the farm. He also informed the Director regarding the new technologies that have been adopted during the cultivation of present crops for the first time at the farm.

The Technical Officer Seed Multiplication Farm Tapper also presented various ideas for the cultivation of different crops during the coming season. He informed the Director regarding some new programs of vegetable cultivation that have been devised in line with the geographical conditions of the area and would be implemented in coming days.(KNS)
