Srinagar, Oct 1 (KNS):Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness the season’s first major spell of rain and snowfall between October 8 and 11, according to a weather forecast.

Mostly dry weather is expected across the Union Territory until October 5, while indications suggest that a strong Western Disturbance may affect Jammu and Kashmir during October 8-11.

The current possibility of the weather system bringing a major spell of precipitation has been put at around 55 per cent, the forecast said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Snowfall is mainly expected over higher reaches, while rain may occur in the plains and lower-lying areas during the period.

The forecast, however, is an early indication and the exact timing and intensity of the weather system may change as it approaches.

Further updates are expected to be issued as the dates draw closer, it said.
