 Ganderbal, Oct 05 (KNS): Ganderbal Press Association (GPA ) today held its first General Body elections at the Auditorium of Government Degree College Ganderbal.

“Where Mir Aftab Ahmed was elected as president of the Association while Ghulam Nabi Raina was elected as vice President, Saleem wani as general secretary, Raja Syed Rather as treasure and Hadi Hidayat was Nominated as Spokesperson of the Association,” reads a statement .

It further reads, “the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner through a well decorated ballot voting process under the vigil of ADDC Ganderbal Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani and Principal Government Degree College Fozia Fatima as Chief Guest.”

“The Election Committee of Ganderbal Press Association headed by senior journalist Ayaz Sofi and other members Hadi Hidayat, Aaqib Rasool, Mukhtar ahmad and Adil mustafa played a vital role in the smooth conduct of the elections,” reads the statement.

“On the occasion the oath ceremony was also organized under the chairmanship of ADDC Ganderbal. Newly elected president, vice president,  general secretary and treasurer took oath to work under the constitution and frame work of Ganderbal press association. They also gave assurance to work for the benefit of the Press fraternity and society on the whole and assured implementation of free, fair and fearless journalism and pledged to end yellow and pseudo journalism,” it reads.

“At last all members of Ganderbal Press Association extend their gratitude towards Snowland Hotels and Resorts Sonamarg, Star Knights a group of star companies, New Dreamland Educational Institute Ganderbal and Master Mechanics Ganderbal for their cooperation,” reads the statement further.(KNS).
