Husband Arrested for Alleged Murder of Wife in Handwara

 Srinagar, Feb 29 (KNS): A man allegedly killed his wife in Cheki Audoora village of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on intervening Wednesday and Thursday night.

 
The family of the deceased was informed by local residents that their daughter had been killed by her husband. Upon arriving at the scene, they found her unconscious. The deceased's family is demanding strict action against the accused. 
 
According to locals, the accused recently returned from out of state and had an arranged marriage with four children. Before the incident, the accused had allegedly prepared an axe to cut down a tree in their yard. Locals also mentioned that the accused worked as a mason.
 
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police on arrested a person accused of 'murdering' his wife.  "Today, Police Station Qalamabad received information that one person, namely Mohd Maqbool Mir, son of Ali Mohd Mir, resident of Chak Audoora, has murdered his wife," reads a police statement 
 
"Consequently, FIR No. 05/2024 under section 302 IPC was registered at PS Qalamabad," it said.
 
"The accused has been arrested in the instant case and the weapon of offense has also been seized," it added.
 
"The investigation of the case is in progress and will be conducted in a thorough, professional manner."
 
"The investigation is currently underway, and the Handwara Police assures the public that it will be conducted with the utmost professionalism and diligence to ensure justice prevails. Further updates on the case will be shared as the investigation progresses," the police added.(KNS).
