Srinagar, Sept 21 (KNS) : JKPC General Secretary and President All J&K Shia Association, Molvi Imran Ansari, in a post on X, urged all political parties and elected representatives to ensure that the limited sitting days of the J&K Legislative Assembly are utilised for debate, questions and accountability rather than repeated disruptions and adjournments.

He said that the J&K Assembly has only a few sitting days, while the next session may be five or six months away. “Politicians have the whole year to accuse each other, play victim cards and score brownie points. Please don’t let precious Assembly time be lost to protests that force the House to adjourn,” he said.

Ansari added that he appealed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition, Speaker and every MLA to allow democracy to function through meaningful debate and accountability.

He said that people across Jammu and Kashmir are facing a wide range of pressing issues, including reservation, job outsourcing, pending recruitment, stipends of interns, PG and SKUAST students, daily wagers, contractual employees, unemployment, drug addiction, rehabilitation, youth mental health, education, sports, healthcare, water shortages, electricity, roads, public transport, entrepreneurship, tourism, horticulture, pollution and the deterioration of water bodies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“People are suffering and going from door to door for solutions,” he said, stressing that many of these issues do not require statehood but require decisions, lawful action, timelines and accountability.

“The government has powers today; the Assembly has the authority to question it today,” Ansari said.

He added that the youth, educated population, unemployed and those who feel hopeless are closely watching the proceedings of the Assembly.

“They don’t want another day of political point-scoring. They want their representatives to make these few days count,” he said.

Ansari further said that the principle should remain the same irrespective of which political party is protesting.

“Today it may be BJP protesting. Tomorrow it may be someone else. The House should not become a place where every protest ends in an adjournment. Let the debate continue. Let democracy work. Let the people see results,” he said.(KNS)
