SP ACB urges participants to root out corruption

Budgam December 9 (KNS): On eve of International Anti Corruption Day an event was held at Govt Model Degree College Charar Sharief Budgam which was attended by college teachers and local social activists. The programme was organised by RTI Movement in association with Model Govt Degree College Charar e Sharief , J&K Anti Corruption Bureau and KOSHISH.  


While addressing the participants, Superintendent of Police (SP) J&K Anti Corruption Bureau Sheikh Ayaz urged the participants to root out corruption from society. He asked the participants to be role models for the society. He highlighted the role of J&K ACB in curbing corruption.   


Chairman J&K RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat threw light on the background of International Anti-Corruption Day & role of RTI Act in curbing corruption. He said International Anti Corruption day was  established by the UN General Assembly in 2003 to raise awareness about the damaging effects of corruption.

 “The day also marks the anniversary of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption- UNCAC, the first global legally binding instrument against corruption” he said

The programme was addressed by Prof Ravina Hassan Principal of the college , Prof Arshad Hussain Coordinator IQAC, Prof Shabila Meraj HoD Commerce , Dr Nazar ul Islam Chairman Life School, Prof Nazar ul Ameen Gash , Dr Ashraf.

An interactive session was held between participants and Chief Guest (SP J&K ACB) and other participants. SP ACB Sheikh Ayaz responded to questions of the participants and explained the Prevention of Corruption Act & functioning of JK Anti Corruption Bureau  

In his vote of thanks Dr Prof Nazar ul Ameen Gash thanked J&K Anti Corruption Bureau, RTI Movement and KOSHISH for organising the event. Senior Members of RTI Movement Mushtaq Ahmad , Mudaser Mohammad , Sameer Ahmad also participated in the event.(KNS)
