Srinagar, Mar 30 (KNS): In a bid to bolster confidence among citizens and ensure a secure environment for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with security forces, conducted a comprehensive flag march across the Kashmir Valley.
 
This extensive march, spanning all districts of the valley, aimed at instilling a sense of security among the populace, paving the way for smooth and peaceful polling.
 
News agency KNS reported that Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law and Order in Jammu and Kashmir, who also serves as the State Police Nodal Officer (SPNO) for the 2024 parliamentary elections, had emphasized the importance of various measures to facilitate the seamless conduct of elections in the region. 
 
Among these measures was the flag march by security forces in sensitive polling areas.
"Continuous monitoring and assessment of the evolving security situation have been integral to the efforts of the law enforcement agencies, with a keen focus on preemptive measures to mitigate any potential risks during the electoral process," security officials said.
 
"Special attention has been directed towards bolstering security arrangements, particularly emphasizing on-site security measures and ensuring the smooth conduct of polls.
 
Plans are meticulously laid out to establish safe routes for the movement of electoral personnel and facilitate the security personnel deployed for election duties, ensuring their safety and operational efficiency throughout the electoral process," the officials added.
 
Special measures are devised for critical polling locations, with strategies aimed at enhancing security measures to counter any potential threats and uphold the sanctity of the electoral process.
 
ADGP L&O has reiterated the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold the principles of democracy by ensuring a secure and fair electoral environment for all stakeholders involved.
The flag march, conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), witnessed the participation of Jammu and Kashmir Police alongside paramilitary forces.
 
In Srinagar city, dozens of security vehicles accompanied by foot soldiers paraded from Rajbagh to Rambagh, covering the uptown area under the leadership of superintendent-level police officers.
This display of security preparedness and proactive measures is aimed at boosting citizens' confidence in participating in the electoral process and casting their votes without fear.
 
With political parties in Jammu and Kashmir already gearing up for the upcoming parliamentary elections, such initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring a conducive environment for the democratic exercise.(KNS)
