Handwara July 20 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Handwara have arrested 03 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Langate at a checkpoint established on Yaroo- Langate road, arrested three drug peddlers identified as Aijaz Ahmad Teli son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Turkpora, Umar Ahmd Lone son of Imtiyaz Ahmad resident of Kultoora and Mudasir Ahmad Lone son of Mohammad Maqbool resident of Udipora. During search, 80 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.154/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.(KNS)
