SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 13 (KNS): A special inspection drive of Handicraft dealers was today conducted under the supervision of Mirza Shahid Ali Beg, Deputy Director Quality Control, in the notified tourist area of M A Link road, here.


During inspection, the dealers found violating the norms of Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Quality Control Act were penalised. An amount of Rs. 5000 was realised as fine, and a subsequent machine made inventory being sold in the name of Kashmir Art products were confiscated/ seized.

The dealers were warned of blacklisting in case of continued violation. They were directed to label the items within fifteen days, afterwards stern action will be initiated by the department.(KNS)
