Sopore, Jun 4 (KNS) : Continuing its crackdown on the narcotics trade under the ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’, Sopore Police on Thursday attached immovable property worth ?22,49,046 belonging to a notorious drug peddler identified as Suhail Ahmad Zargar alias Lala, son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar, a resident of Behrampora, Rafiabad.

The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, officials said. During investigation and financial scrutiny, police established that the attached property was acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking.

A police spokesperson said the move is part of a sustained strategy to dismantle the financial infrastructure sustaining the narcotics ecosystem. “By attaching assets obtained through illegal activities, the objective is to weaken the economic foundations of drug networks and create a strong deterrent,” the spokesperson added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Officials said several more properties linked to notorious drug peddlers and traffickers across the district have been identified, and the process for attachment of such illegally acquired assets is underway.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, Sopore Police said it remains committed to dismantling the entire narcotics ecosystem through strict enforcement, preventive action, financial investigation, and community participation.
