Srinagar Records Season's Coldest Night at Minus 0.8 Degrees Celsius


Srinagar, Nov 20 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar city experienced the lowest temperature of the season, recording minus 0.8 degrees Celsius, as reported by officials on Monday.

Meteorological (MeT) Department officials stated that Srinagar's minimum temperature hit minus 0.8 degrees Celsius, marking the coldest night this season.

"Gulmarg recorded minus 1.2, and Pahalgam recorded minus 2.6 as the minimum temperature today," mentioned the MeT officials.

The morning witnessed thick fog in most parts of Srinagar, creating difficulties for the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

The weather office predicts continued fog in mornings and evenings for another week in the city, with no major weather activity expected during this period.

During the 40-day period of intense cold known as 'Chillai Kalan,' which spans from December 21 to January 30 each year, the minimum winter temperature drops several notches below zero in the Valley. (KNS)
