Sopore, Jun 7 (KNS) Continuing its anti-drug drive under the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized psychotropic substances from their possession in Sopore town of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said that during patrolling at Model Town–Brath Link Road under the jurisdiction of Police Post Bus Stand, a team intercepted three suspicious individuals. Upon search, psychotropic substances, including Spasmoproxyvon Plus and SP capsules, were recovered from them.

The accused have been identified as Arsalan Nabi Zargar, son of Ghulam Nabi Zargar; Waseem Nabi Wani, son of Ghulam Nabi Wani — both residents of Model Town-B, Sopore — and Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Bohripora, Sopore.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the source and the wider network of narcotics peddlers in the region, the spokesperson added.

Police have reiterated that strict action against drug peddlers and traffickers will continue across the district as part of efforts to dismantle the narcotics ecosystem and prevent the spread of drugs among the youth.

"The Sopore Police remains committed to the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan and will continue its sustained efforts to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society," the spokesperson said. (KNS)
