‎Srinagar, Sep 29 (KNS): The report and recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to examine grievances over the existing reservation rules in Jammu and Kashmir are still awaiting approval of the competent authority, the government has informed the Legislative Assembly.

‎The status was disclosed in a reply to a question by CPI(M) MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami regarding the report of the committee constituted on December 10, 2024.

‎According to the Social Welfare Department, the Cabinet Sub-Committee has already submitted its report and recommendations. The report was placed before the Cabinet and, after approval by the Council of Ministers, was sent to the competent authority for consideration.

‎The government said the competent authority raised certain observations on the matter, which have since been examined and replied to by the government.
‎
‎“The matter is presently under consideration of the Competent Authority,” the department said, adding that a decision would be taken after considering all relevant aspects and the larger public interest.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

‎The government also maintained that there was no delay on the part of the Cabinet Sub-Committee in submitting its report, saying it had submitted the recommendations within the prescribed time.

‎On whether the recommendations would be tabled in the Legislative Assembly, the government said a decision would be taken after the competent authority approves them.

‎The question had also sought details of the committee’s recommendations and the response of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, as well as reasons for not making the report public despite its bearing on the employment prospects of aspirants. The reply, however, did not disclose the recommendations of the committee.(KNS)
