‎Srinagar, Sep 22 (KNS): Inderwal MLA Pyare Lal on Tuesday raised the recent rape incident in Chatro in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, linking the incident to the lack of educational and other basic facilities in remote areas of his constituency.

‎While raising the issue in the House, Lal said schools in his constituency were located far from each other, forcing children to travel several kilometres to attend classes. He said the absence of educational facilities in remote areas was among the issues that needed greater attention.

‎Lal said high schools and higher secondary schools in some parts of his constituency were 25 to 30 kilometres apart, while children had to travel 6 to 7 kilometres to reach schools.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

‎He sought the upgradation of at least six schools, saying this would help children continue their education closer to home.

‎The MLA also raised the issue of vacant posts at medical facilities in his constituency, saying several medical centres were without doctors.
‎
‎He expressed hope that doctors whose appointments and postings are being processed would be deployed in his constituency to address the shortage.
‎
‎Lal said improving access to schools, filling vacancies in health facilities and establishing a degree college were necessary to address the difficulties faced by people in remote areas of his constituency.(KNS)
