“Six Months Have Elapsed, and Nothing Moves” On Solar Scheme Delay in J&K, Says Sajad Lone

Srinagar May 16 (KNS): PM Surya Ghar scheme, aimed at promoting rooftop solar power for homes, has reportedly entered a state of stagnation in Jammu and Kashmir. According to public concerns raised by politician Sajad Lone, the scheme has made no progress for those who had earlier registered on the JAKEDA portal.

Six months have passed since efforts were promised to shift registrations to the KPDCL portal, but no progress has been made. This delay has left vendors unable to meet customer expectations, leading to frustration on both sides.

Sajad Lone pointed out that government-backed schemes like this often have a limited shelf life, and delays risk wasting valuable opportunities.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe recalled a similar case in the past when a solar rooftop program for government buildings, which had a 60% subsidy from the central government, was poorly handled and ultimately failed in the region.

He also criticised the lack of direct coordination with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), which is affecting the scheme’s smooth implementation in J&K.

If delays continue, there’s growing fear that this scheme too may be phased out before benefiting the people it was designed for.(KNS)
