SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 30 (KNS): As part of observance of Vigilance Awareness Week from October 30 to November 05, Pledge taking ceremonies were today held at Ganderbal, Kulgam and Kupwara districts of Kashmir.
On the occasion, the respective District heads administered an integrity pledge to all officers and officials of the district.
Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week every year is taken up during the last week of October to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.
This year the theme of Vigilance Awareness Week is ‘Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation’.
At Kulgam, Vigilance Awareness Week kick-started today at Kulgam with the aim to create awareness about various forms of corruption prevalent in the society and suggest measures to thwart the growth of this plague.
Day first of vigilance week marked with pledge taking ceremonies where employees in all offices of the district took integrity pledges.
The employees of the mini-secretariat and other officers also took the Integrity Pledge at the mini-secretariat lawn, which was led by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam.
The DC on the occasion called for fulfilling the responsibility by employees with devotion and integrity and highlighted the initiatives being taken to give good governance to the people.
At Ganderbal, as part of observance of Vigilance Awareness Week from October 30, Pledge taking ceremony was today held across all the offices of Ganderbal.
The main function was held at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal during which Integrity Pledge was administered by Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani to the officers/officials of district administration.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During the Pledge, participants believed that corruption has been one of the major obstacles to economic, political and social progress of our country and believed that all stakeholders such as the Government, citizens and private sector need to work together to eradicate corruption.
They acknowledged that their responsibility to lead by example and the need to put in place safeguards, integrity frameworks and code of ethics to ensure that they are not part of any corrupt practice and tackle instances of corruption with utmost strictness.
All the participants pledged to work together to eradicate corruption and oppose all forms of corruption and foster a culture of honesty and integrity. They also pledged to act in public interest and protect rights and interests of stakeholders and the society at large.
At Kupwara, the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Irfan Bahadur administered the integrity pledge to the officers and officials of DC Office Kupwara to fight against corruption and bring transparency in their work.
Similar integrity pledges were administered to all government offices, Govt. Degree Colleges, Bank Branches, Schools and other institutions in Kupwara district.
Several strategies have been adopted by the District Administration Kupwara to fight corruption and to educate the general public about the perils of corruption. Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week remains one of the primary tools of preventive vigilance with the focus on building awareness and re-affirming the commitment of everyone to uphold integrity in public governance.
During the week-long Awareness campaign, different events like Debates, Quiz competitions, special Gram Sabhas, grievance redressal camps in all SDM offices, Tehsil HQs for resolving the grievances, and a one day Workshop at Town Hall Kupwara is being organized.(KNS)
