Srinagar, 22 May (KNS):Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam observed the 62nd death anniversary of its former president, renowned scholar and spiritual leader, Mirwaiz Molvi Atiqullah Shah (RA), with deep respect and remembrance.
President of Anjuman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, paid glowing tribute to the late Mirwaiz, calling him a visionary scholar and a selfless servant of the community. He said Mirwaiz Atiqullah’s legacy remains a guiding light, and his mission must be carried forward.
Teachers, staff, and students of the Anjuman recalled his exceptional educational reforms and leadership, terming his tenure a “Golden Period” in the institution’s history.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDespite severe financial crises from 1947 to 1962, the late Mirwaiz, with public support, ensured the Anjuman’s continuity through grassroots efforts.
He was also instrumental in founding Islamia College of Science and Commerce, which operated for two years within the Anjuman premises. Thousands mourned his passing in 1962, and he was laid to rest at Malkhah.
A special Quran recitation was held at Islamia Oriental College for the late Mirwaiz and other past presidents. (KNS)
