Baramulla, Nov 01 (KNS): In a major breakthrough against long-time absconders, Baramulla Police on Saturday arrested a man who had been evading law enforcement for nearly 23 years.
Officials told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the accused has been identified as Bashir Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah alias Guli Shah, a resident of Naidkhah Sumbal. He was wanted in case FIR No. 49/2003 under Section 379 RPC, registered at Police Station Tangmarg.
Despite being on the run for over two decades, police said the accused was finally traced and arrested by a team of Baramulla Police following sustained efforts and technical surveillance.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"After his arrest, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate Tangmarg for further legal proceedings," the police said.
Baramulla Police reaffirmed that efforts to track down and arrest absconders will continue, adding that no individual involved in criminal activities will be allowed to escape the law.
"Baramulla Police remains committed to ensuring that all absconders and offenders are brought to justice," the statement added. (KNS)
