Jammu, Nov 19 (KNS): Senior DPAP leader Salman Nizami on Tuesday reacted sharply to a few leaders rejoining the Congress, terming them “deadwood.” He said some of these leaders had earlier quit the party, contested independently, and continue to use Ghulam Nabi Azad’s name despite having lost by large margins.
According to a statement issued here, Nizami said former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had already advised such leaders to “go anywhere,” as he did not want the burden of accommodating them again. He added that the Congress, which stands weakened in several states including Jammu and Kashmir, cannot expect any revival by depending on what he described as deadwood leaders.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He further said the Congress lacks a strong face in J&K, claiming that even its alliance partner, the National Conference, does not take it seriously. According to Nizami, since Azad’s exit from the party, the Congress has lost eight assembly elections and one Lok Sabha election.
Praising Azad as a national leader with significant contributions, Nizami said people in J&K had not fully understood his vision earlier a mistake they now regret. He added that Azad is scheduled to visit J&K soon, after which the future strategy will be finalised.(KNS)
