Kupwara, May 29 (KNS): Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara on Wednesday visited the Kupwara District jail following the orders of the Supreme Court.
As per the communiqué, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service(KNS) reads, "In accordance with directives from the Supreme Court of India regarding the improvement of prison conditions, and under the guidance of the District and Sessions Judge Kupwara, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Mohd Rouf Rahman, conducted a thorough inspection of the District Jail Kupwara".
The visit aimed to assess the living conditions, health facilities, and overall atmosphere for the inmates. He met with approximately 400 inmates, toured various sections including the Administration Block, Health Section, Playfield, Dental Section, and Water Storage Area, and inspected the entire jail campus, it said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
It said that ADC recommended immediate actions to enhance medical care within the facility. He proposed the regular deputation of a Dental Doctor for bi-weekly check-ups of inmates, as well as the appointment of a Microbiologist and a Medical Officer to address and manage skin and waterborne diseases.
The Superintendent of the District Jail, Shahbaz, briefed ADC on the existing facilities, ongoing requirements, and the operational environment within the jail complex, it added.(KNS)
