Bandipora Sep 19 (KNS) The Bandipora district administration has said no permission was granted for a 'Tantra Silence' retreat in Gurez Valley, asking the public and tourists not to rely on "unauthorised promotional claims" about the event.

In a statement issued here, the administration said the event had not been authorised by it.

"Gurez 'Tantra Silence' Retreat Unauthorised. No permission has been granted to the said event by District Administration Bandipora. Public/tourists are advised not to rely on or share such unauthorised promotional claims," it said.

Authorities also urged people to verify the authenticity of such events with the concerned administration before making any commitments.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The clarification came after PDP president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti flagged a poster advertising the retreat and urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Police to intervene immediately, warning that the border region was no playground for experiments in the name of spirituality or tourism.

Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq also sought immediate intervention by the authorities, saying tourism promotion should not come at the expense of the region's religious and social sensitivities. (KNS)
