Aga Syed Hassan Calls for Shia-Sunni Unity: 'Sunnis Are Our Souls, Not Just Brethren

Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNS): The President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharia Shiaan and a prominent advocate for interfaith dialogue, Aga Syed Hassan Mousvi Safvi, strongly condemned recent attempts to disrupt Shia-Sunni harmony in the region. Addressing concerns over controversial poetic remarks that reportedly hurt the sentiments of Sunni brethren, Aga Syed Hassan clarified that the event in question was an individual program and not associated with any authorized Shia platform.

Aga Syed Hassan emphasized the importance of unity, citing the teachings of eminent Shia leaders like Ayatollah Imam Khamenei and Ayatollah Syed Ali Sistani. Referring to their fatwas, he stated:

“Disrespect or insult to the Sahabah (Companions) or the wives of the Prophet (PBUH) is haram (forbidden).”

Ayatollah Sistani further stressed, “Shiites should defend Sunnis’ social and political rights before defending their own.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelShiites should not call Sunnis their brethren but their ‘souls.’” He also urged Shiites to actively participate in Sunni Friday prayers to foster unity.

Aga Syed Hassan called upon the people of Kashmir to reject divisive narratives and remain vigilant against conspiracies designed to create discord within the Muslim Ummah. He reiterated that safeguarding unity is critical to countering these plots and upholding the shared values of Islam.

“The current situation demands collective wisdom and adherence to the principles of mutual respect and solidarity prescribed by the Shia school of thought,” he concluded.(KNS)
