Kupwara, Oct 04 (KNS): Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), Kashmir Region, Irfan Rasool Wani (IFS), Saturday conducted a day-long field tour of Kehmil and Langate Forest Divisions in the North Forest Circle to review the progress of eco-tourism development in the region, officials said.
During the visit to Langate Forest Division, the CCF inspected the Forest Complex Langate and reviewed the status of new infrastructure development, directing officials to complete ongoing works within stipulated timelines as per approved plans and prescribed quality standards.
Wani undertook an extensive visit of the Reshwari Eco-Tourism Site and reviewed the eco-development scenario there. He issued directions for upgrading the Reshwari trek route, undertaking soil and moisture conservation measures for Mawar Nallah, and upgrading the Reshwari Eco-Tourism hut.
He also inspected the upcoming Reshwari Eco Park and directed for its early completion so that it could be dedicated to the public and tourists at the earliest.
The CCF further directed the preparation of a detailed project report regarding fallen timber lying alongside the road leading towards Bangus Valley, so that the available timber and firewood resource is properly enumerated and made available for public use before winter sets in.
Wani also reviewed the proposed site for the Langate–Bangus Visitors Centre and directed the redevelopment of the Bangus Eco-Tourism Visitors Centre to create an aesthetically appealing and nature-compatible attraction for visitors.

During his tour of Kehmil Forest Division, the CCF inspected existing eco-tourism huts in Bangus Valley and at Tee Pee Point Jungle Bagh, issuing directions for their further upgradation and modernisation. A ceremonial plantation drive was also carried out at the Jungle Bagh Eco-Tourism site on the occasion.
The CCF also inspected the first-of-its-kind High Altitude Jungle Training Camp for forest officers and nature lovers coming up at Lokut Bangus, and reviewed the ongoing progress of works at the site.
Emphasising the need for a balanced approach, Wani said all eco-tourism and infrastructure interventions should be planned in a manner that balances visitor convenience, local accessibility and ecological sustainability.
He stressed quality execution, realistic estimates, timely completion, regular field monitoring and proper maintenance of developed assets.
