Amit Shah to Chair High-Level Security Meeting on Jammu & Kashmir Today

New Delhi, Feb 4 (KNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lead a security review meeting on Tuesday to assess the implementation of the Centre’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting gains significance following the terrorist attack on ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay and his family on Monday. While Wagay succumbed to his injuries, his wife and niece are undergoing treatment.

The meeting is expected to be attended by Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior officials from the J&K Police, the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Home Ministry.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In the last such review on December 19, Shah directed security agencies to maintain coordination to eliminate terrorism in the region. The government has reiterated that terrorist incidents, infiltration, and recruitment have significantly declined.

Security forces recently intensified operations in Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in forested and high-altitude areas near the Line of Control (LoC), targeting terrorists responsible for multiple attacks last year. Areas like Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Jammu, and Rajouri have witnessed increased terrorist activity in recent years. (KNS)
