Anantnag, August 27 (KNS): In a significant security operation, Anantnag Police, in collaboration with the Army and CRPF, thwarted a potential terror plot by arresting three suspected terrorist associates. The arrests were made during a joint naka (checkpoint) at Wopzan Trijunction, leading to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Umaiq Mushtaq Zargar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, resident of Karewa Colony Bijbehara; Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Yaqoob Dar, resident of Dar Mohalla Arwani; and Shahid Ahmad Gadhanji, son of Sonaullah Gadhanji, resident of Dar Mohalla Arwani.

Security forces recovered the following items from the suspects, 1 pistol, 2 pistol magazine , 23 pistol rounds and 2 grenades

A case has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara under FIR No. 172/2024, invoking the Arms Act and sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Further investigations are underway.
