Srinagar, May 27, (KNS) : Ddelegation from Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, led by prominent Shia cleric Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas, met with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir,Manoj Sinha, to discuss key issues related to the observance of Muharram 2025.
During the meeting, the delegation strongly reiterated its longstanding demand for the restoration of the traditional Ashura procession route from Abi Guzar to Ali Park Zadibal, which has remained under official restrictions for several decades.
“The continued ban on the historic Muthida Jaloos is a matter of deep concern for the community,” said a spokesperson for the Anjuman.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“We appealed to the LG for immediate intervention and requested that the religious sentiments and constitutional rights of the Shia community be duly respected.”
The spokesperson further added that the Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
The Anjuman expressed hope that this engagement would pave the way for the revival of the centuries-old religious practice in a peaceful and dignified manner, in keeping with the spirit of harmony and mutual respect.(KNS)
