Awantipora, Jan 3 (KNS):  In 2024, the Awantipora Police District intensified its efforts against drug trafficking, leading to significant achievements, which reflect the Awantipora Police’s commitment to combating the drug menace and safeguarding the community. In the past year, the police district of Awantipora in South Kashmir has undertaken a large-scale crackdown against drug trafficking and abuse.

According to statistics released by the police, a total of 73 cases were registered in the district last year, resulting in the arrest of 109 drug peddlers. During this period, nine properties worth Rs 1,53,63,529 were seized. The police stated that under the NDPS Act, 12 individuals were sent to jail.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAdditionally, poppy cultivation on 25 kanals of land was destroyed.

Providing further details, a police spokesperson reported the seizure of 82.40 kilograms of prohibited substances, 32.57 kilograms of heroin, 28.746 kilograms of charas (hashish), 2,273 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 780 grams of cannabis, and 103 bottles of codeine syrup.

The police emphasized their commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in areas such as Awantipora, Tral, Pampore, Reshipora, Khrew, and Aripal.
