Srinagar, January 23 (KNS): Apni Party Chief Spokesperson Muntazir Mohiuddin has expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the tragic death of Bilal Ahmad Shah, an employee of the PDD, who was electrocuted while on duty at the power station in Soura last week, and passed away on Wednesday. He extended his deepest condolences to victim’s family.

Apni Party leader said that these vulnerable employees and workers mostly fall prey to the tragic death due to the lack of safety gears and proper training.

He said, “The tragic death of Bilal Ahmad is not an isolated case. We frequently hear about the deaths and grave injuries of PDD electricians, linemen, workers, and casual labourers as they come into contact with live transmission wires during repair duties.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe primary causes of such tragedies are often the lack of safety gear, proper training, safety drills, and the non-implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs). If this is true, it is both shocking and distressing.”

Muntazir further said, “Also, it is a matter of grave concern that daily wagers and casual labourers with the PDD are neither entitled to insurance nor receive any financial assistance in such cases.”

“This matter demands the urgent attention of the authorities, and all necessary measures must be taken to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of employees and workers who are most of the times vulnerable due to the nature of their duties,” he added. (KNS)
