Bandipora, Dec 10 (KNS) : Acting on the directions of the Worthy Transport Commissioner J&K, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Bandipora carried out a comprehensive district-wide traffic checking drive, aimed at tightening enforcement and promoting safer road behaviour among motorists.
During the operation, 200 vehicles were inspected, and multiple challans were issued for various traffic violations. The drive resulted in 41 compoundable challans, yielding ?49,000 in fines collected on the spot.
According to officials, the enforcement teams focused on high-risk violations that significantly contribute to road accidents and pose a threat to public safety. These included riding two-wheelers without helmets, driving four-wheelers without wearing seat belts, operating vehicles without functional speed-limiting devices, & Wrong and unauthorised parking causing obstruction, driving without valid motor insurance, a serious violation under the Motor Vehicles Act.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Officials said the drive was part of ongoing efforts to enforce discipline on the roads and to send a strong message that unsafe driving practices will not be tolerated. Such enforcement activities, they added, are crucial in deterring habitual offenders and ensuring accountability.
The ARTO Bandipora reiterated its commitment to conducting regular drives across the district and urged commuters to strictly adhere to traffic rules for the safety of all road users.(KNS)
