Awareness Program on New Criminal Laws and Economic Offenses Conducted at Crime Headquarters

Jammu March 1 (KNS): In a continued effort towards capacity building and awareness on new criminal laws, the Crime Branch Headquarters, Jammu, organized a special awareness program today.

The event was graced by Deputy Inspector General of Police, CBI Jammu, Dr. Vidyut Vikas, IRS,* who was warmly welcomed by Inspector General of Crime Branch, Dr. Sunil Gupta,IPS, along with other senior officers.

Dr. Vidyut Vikas, an IRS officer from the 2008 batch, with a five-year tenure at CBI Jammu, delivered an insightful session on the provisions of new criminal laws and shared his extensive experience regarding the professional functioning of CBI. He emphasized the importance of standard investigative practices, SOPs, and victim-centric approaches in modern policing, highlighting that the essence of the new criminal laws is to ensure justice for common citizens, beyond just punishing offenders

Senior officers, including Sh. Abdul Qayoom, DIG Crime; Benam Tosh, SSP EOW; Sh. Yaseen Kitchloo, SSP CICE; Joint Director Prosecution Sh. Layeeq Ahmed; and Sh. Amarjeet, SO to IGP, participated in the discussion.

Joint Director Prosecution, Layeeq Ahmed highlighted the new provision of trial in absentia and approached courts to prosecute absconding accused individuals.
Dr. Vidyut Vikas emphasized the effective use of e-Saksh, e-Summon, and other digital practices to ensure faster and more efficient justice delivery.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all investigating officers of Crime Branch Headquarters, who actively engaged in discussions and gained valuable insights from real-life investigative experiences shared by DIG CBI, Dr. Vidyut Vikas.
