Baramulla, Dec27 (KNS) : Baramulla Police have seized three tractors involved in illegal extraction of boulders and gravel from Wanigam Nallah in the Kreeri area, as part of their ongoing crackdown on unlawful mining activities.
The seizure was made during routine surveillance and checking in the area. Upon verification, it was found that the extraction was being carried out without any valid legal authorization. Acting promptly, the police seized the tractors bearing registration number JK03H-4033, along with engines numbered NKA2UDE0218 and NSB2UYE0350.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Following the seizure, legal action under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) was initiated against those involved in the illegal activity.
Baramulla Police reiterated their firm commitment to protecting natural resources and curbing illegal mining across the district. The police have also appealed to the general public to cooperate with authorities and report such unlawful practices, warning that strict legal action will continue against violators.(KNS)
