Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNS): A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) on Monday met Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Vikramjit Singh, and submitted a memorandum highlighting issues concerning industrialists, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, hoteliers and the wider business community in Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegation was led by CCIK President Tariq Ghani and comprised Senior Vice President Hussain Khan, Joint Secretary Aatif Khan, Coordinator Ashiq Bhat and Convenor Umer Koul.

During the meeting, the delegation apprised Singh of various concerns being faced by the industrial and business sectors and sought timely intervention for their resolution.

The memorandum highlighted the pending demarcation of allotted industrial land, delay in formulation of an action plan for newly shortlisted applicants, non-implementation of industrial tariff benefits for hotels under the MSME/service sector, poor road infrastructure in industrial estates, unscheduled power cuts affecting industrial operations and extension of solar subsidy benefits to industrial and commercial establishments.

The CCIK said timely resolution of these issues would help improve investor confidence, accelerate industrial growth, facilitate employment generation and strengthen the overall business ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the interaction, the chamber also proposed organising an exclusive exhibition showcasing startups, innovation-driven enterprises and emerging entrepreneurs from Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with the Industries and Commerce Department.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The proposed exhibition, according to the CCIK, would provide young entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products, services and innovative business ideas and connect with investors, industry leaders and government stakeholders.

Singh welcomed the proposal and agreed in principle to organise the startup exhibition in collaboration with CCIK, recognising the importance of promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and startup culture across the Union Territory.

The Commissioner Secretary assured the delegation that the issues highlighted in the memorandum would be examined and taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.

He also appreciated the constructive role being played by CCIK in representing the concerns of the business community and contributing to economic development in Jammu and Kashmir.

The CCIK delegation thanked Singh for giving them a patient hearing and for his positive response. The chamber reiterated its commitment to working closely with the government to promote trade, industry, investment and employment generation in the region.(KNS)
