Brother of TRC Grenade Victim Abida Kouser Demands Justice for Her Children

Srinagar November 12 (KNS): Waseem Raja, the brother of Abida Kouser, a victim of the tragic TRC grenade blast that occurred on November 3, 2014, has made an emotional appeal for justice and support for his late sister’s children.

Speaking to the media, Raja described the devastating impact of the blast that killed Abida, leaving her three young children without a mother.

Abida was among those injured in a grenade explosion at the Tourist Reception Center (TRC) area in Srinagar. According to Raja, he rushed to SMHS Hospital upon hearing the news, only to find that essential medical equipment was malfunctioning, severely delaying critical treatment for his sister. Despite efforts by the medical team, Abida succumbed to her injuries. Her medical reports indicated severe trauma to her brain’s front lobe, which proved fatal.

Following the incident, political leaders, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah, assured the family of full assistance. Raja claims that Dr. Abdullah promised rehabilitation for Abida’s children, now aged six and below, and even discussed the possibility of an airlift for her treatment, which unfortunately couldn’t be arranged due to her critical condition.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

While he expressed gratitude for the authorities' efforts to aid Abida, Raja stressed that what he seeks now is formal, long-term support for her children rather than financial aid. "I don't want money," he said. "We just need proper rehabilitation for her children’s future."

Raja highlighted the lingering fear and instability that incidents like the TRC blast cause in Kashmir.

Raja, alongside his family, appeals to senior officials and authorities, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and CM Omar Abdullah, to formally rehabilitate Abida’s children and restore security and peace to Kashmir.

The family now waits for justice, hoping that the authorities will fulfill their promises and support Abida’s children in her memory.(KNS).
