120 Properties worth over Rs 70 Cr attached, 40 Permanently seized
Srinagar, Jan 02 (KNS): Kashmir Police has registered around 1,000 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested nearly 1,400 people in a major crackdown against drug trafficking.
As per details available with Kashmir News Service (KNS), around 1,000 NDPS cases have been registered and nearly 1,400 arrests made in Kashmir.
Police have also moved against properties connected to the drug trade. “Properties worth more than Rs 70 crore have been attached in NDPS cases. More than 120 such properties were identified during the operations, out of which around 40 have already been permanently seized,” it said.
It added that the focus remains on quality investigation. “More than 90% of investigations were completed with proper evidence and charge-sheeting, ensuring that accused are presented before courts for judicial determination,” it said.
In several quality cases, police secured convictions with sentences of up to 20 years imprisonment, along with fines running into lakhs of rupees.
Authorities said that police will continue strict action against drug offenders.(KNS)
