Jammu, September 8 (KNS): Northern Railway has extended the operational period of the Chhapra-Pathankot weekly special train to facilitate passengers travelling during the upcoming festive season, officials said on Tuesday.

The extension has been made to accommodate the expected rush of passengers travelling between North India and Bihar during Diwali and Chhath Puja.

According to the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, train number 05193, operating from Chhapra to Pathankot, will run every Monday from October 5 to November 23 for a total of eight trips.

In the return direction, train number 05194 from Pathankot to Chhapra will operate every Wednesday from October 7 to November 25, also completing eight trips.

The train will continue to operate on its existing route, timetable, halts and coach composition, the railway said.

The extension is expected to benefit passengers from Pathankot, Jammu Division and adjoining areas by providing additional connectivity towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and helping ease the rush in regular trains during the festive season.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The additional services are also expected to reduce pressure on waiting lists and improve the chances of passengers securing confirmed tickets.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal said the extension was aimed at ensuring passenger convenience in view of the increased demand during the festive season.

"During the festive season, there is a huge increase in the number of passengers, in view of which the period of Chhapra-Pathankot weekly special train has been extended," he said.

He said the decision reflected the Railways' commitment to providing better passenger facilities and ensuring safe and convenient travel.

Passengers have been advised to verify the latest timings and stoppages through the National Train Enquiry System (139), NTES mobile application or the official railway website before commencing their journey.(KNS)
