Bandipora, June 17 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday assured that deficiencies in District Hospital Bandipora would be addressed after concerns were raised over the institution's infrastructure and manpower requirements during a review meeting in the district.
The issue was highlighted during the Chief Minister's visit to Bandipora, where participants pointed out that although the hospital shifted to a new building in 2019, it was yet to receive the staff strength, facilities and services expected of a full-fledged district hospital.
Responding to the concerns, Abdullah said the matter had been brought to his notice during the meeting. He said Health Minister Sakina Itoo, who attended the review meeting virtually from Jammu, had also taken note of the issue.
"The Health Minister has assured the local MLAs and other participants that all pending works and shortcomings related to the Health Department will be addressed," the Chief Minister said.

He said the government was committed to strengthening healthcare services and that necessary measures would be taken wherever additional work was required.
Residents and public representatives have been seeking enhanced infrastructure, specialist staff and improved healthcare facilities at the hospital, which caters to a large population in the north Kashmir district.
The Chief Minister's assurance has raised expectations that the hospital's pending requirements will be addressed in the coming months, officials said.(KNS).
