Srinagar, Oct 09(KNS): National Conference leader Abdul Rahim Rather, who won from Chah-I-Sharief against JKPDP's Ghulam Nabi Lone, stated that after years of being silenced and struggling, the people of J&K have now responded with their votes, mandating the National Conference to serve their interests and fulfill promises one by one.

"We will fight for the restoration of statehood for J&K," he said, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the people that statehood would be reinstated, and the Supreme Court has also directed the government to restore it.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

"We hope statehood will be granted to J&K very soon. The JKNC is a strong party and will serve the people in our own way," he said while speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS).

"All these years, people have waited to respond to the barbarism and excesses unleashed upon them at the ballot box. We are committed to upholding their aspirations, while those who lost the elections now lament about a powerless assembly," he added.(KNS).
