Srinagar, Dec 12 (KNS) : The Special Crime Wing (Crime Branch) Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 07/2022 against a Public Works Department (R&B) employee accused of forging his date of birth to obtain illegal regularization.
In a statement issued ,The chargesheet was submitted before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Handwara, on 11 December 2025.
The case stems from a communication received from the Under Secretary to the Government, Public Works Department (R&B), seeking an investigation into the alleged fake date of birth of Abdul Rashid Lone, son of Mohammad Ahsan Lone, a resident of Chogal, Handwara, working as a Helper in the R&B Division.
An initial enquiry by the Crime Branch revealed that the accused had produced a fabricated medical certificate indicating his date of birth as 01.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel04.1968 at the time of his regularization. However, school records showed his actual date of birth as 04.04.1950. Based on these contradictions, FIR No. 07/2022 under sections 420, 468, 471, and 201 of the RPC was registered, and a detailed investigation was launched.
Investigations established that the accused, in criminal conspiracy, forged and used the fake certificate to unlawfully secure government benefits. The probe confirmed evidence of cheating, forgery, destruction of evidence, and conspiracy.
The Special Crime Wing Kashmir reaffirmed its firm stance against falsification of records and fraudulent practices, asserting its continued commitment to uphold the rule of law through transparent and uncompromising investigations.(KNS)
