DC Chairs DLRC Meeting in Baramulla: Emphasis on Financial Inclusion, Loan Disbursement, and Public Awareness

Baramulla, June 02 (KNS) : A District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting for the quarter ending March 2025 was held today at Dak Bungalow Baramulla under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa. The meeting reviewed the performance of banks and line departments under various government-sponsored schemes and priority sector lending.

Representatives from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), NABARD, Cluster Head J&K Bank, Lead District Manager (LDM) Baramulla, and officers from all major banks and concerned departments participated in the meeting.

Lead District Manager Bashir Ahmad Sheikh informed the house that under the District Credit Plan 2024–25, the total credit target was ?4,272.53 crore, against which ?4,579.43 crore was achieved, marking 107% of the target. Under the priority sector, ?2,420.87 crore was disbursed against a target of ?3,567.27 crore (68%), while the non-priority sector saw disbursement of ?2,158.56 crore against a target of ?705.26 crore, achieving 306%.

The DDC conducted a comprehensive review of the performance of all banks and departments. He emphasized achieving 100% saturation under the National Mission for Financial Inclusion and directed banks to expedite the disposal of all pending loan cases under schemes such as PMEGP, MUMKIN, PM Vishwakarma, Mission Youth, Tejaswini, and other flagship programmes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Highlighting the need for grassroots-level financial awareness, the DDC directed all banks and financial institutions to organize outreach and literacy camps in collaboration with line departments. He stressed the involvement of ASHA and Anganwadi workers, as well as NRLM SHG members, to enhance the reach and impact of financial education.

To ensure comprehensive coverage under social security and credit schemes, the DDC instructed banks to intensify efforts for saturation under Kisan Credit Card (KCC), PM Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), PM Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), MUDRA loans, and Aadhaar seeding.

The DDC further directed the Lead District Manager to conduct a seminar for all bankers to sensitize them about operational guidelines and objectives of government flagship schemes, ensuring smooth and timely loan disbursements.

In conclusion, the DDC urged all line departments to organize special awareness camps across the district to inform the public about various financial and welfare schemes and ensure effective last-mile delivery of benefits.(KNS)
