Srinagar, Sep 04 (KNS): A Delhi Court on Wednesday deferred till September 11 its order on the regular bail plea of Awami Itihad Party (AIP) chief Er Rashid, who is in jail in connection with a terror-funding case.
Rashid had recently won Lok Sabha elections from north Kashmir’s Baramulla segement against his rival Omar Abdullah in April this year.
Additional Sessions Judge Chanderjit Singh, who was scheduled to pass the order on Er Rashid’s bail plea on Wednesday, posted the matter for the next date, saying the order was not ready.
The court had heard the arguments during an in-camera session on August 28, however the judgment was later on reserved.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
On August 20, the court issued notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and directed it to file its objections on Rashid’s plea by August 28.
On July 05, the court granted Rashid custody parole to take the oath of office after he emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha elections from north Kashmir’s Baramulla.
AIP chief has been in jail since 2019 after he was detained by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the 2017 terror-funding case.(KNS)
