Anantnag, February 15 (KNS): Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS, Director Sericulture J&K, today visited District Anantnag and inaugurated a plantation drive by planting a mulberry sapling, marking the commencement of the mulberry plantation season across the Kashmir Division. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the availability of quality mulberry foliage, a crucial factor in boosting the sericulture sector.
During his visit, the Director inspected various development projects undertaken by the department and took stock of the ongoing works. He issued on-the-spot instructions to the District Sericulture Officer, Anantnag, emphasizing that all components and works should be completed within a week’s time. He stressed the need for strict adherence to timelines to ensure smooth execution of departmental programs.

The Director also reiterated the government’s commitment to providing necessary support to silkworm rearers and ensuring that all developmental initiatives of the department are effectively implemented on the ground. He further directed the concerned officers to identify potential areas for expanding mulberry plantations and make full use of available resources to maximize production.
The visit concluded with a review meeting where the progress of various ongoing projects was assessed, and strategies were discussed to further streamline operations in the field. The officers assured the Director of their full commitment to achieving the set targets within the stipulated time frame.
