Srinagar, Aug 15 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Saturday extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day, while emphasising the significance of the 150th anniversary of the national anthem 'Vande Mataram'.

 

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), Garg termed the day "special" and called upon all sections of society to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the country's freedom fighters and security forces.

 

"Today is a special day as we are celebrating the 150th anniversary of our national anthem, Vande Mataram. I extend my best wishes to all Kashmiris and the people of the country on this occasion," Garg said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

 

The Divisional Commissioner also paid tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation's freedom and acknowledged the continued sacrifices of the armed forces, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, over the past eight decades.

 

"Independence Day reminds us of many special responsibilities. I pay my respects to those pious souls who dedicated their lives for the country's freedom. In the last 80 years, our soldiers and armed forces have made numerous sacrifices, especially in Kashmir," he added.

 

He further said that I pray for a peaceful and prosperous Kashmir. (KNS)
