Jammu, 25 Nov(KNS): Doon International School (DIS) proudly hosted the much-anticipated Sohodaya Athletics Championship over two exhilarating days, bringing together 23 CBSE schools to compete in a celebration of athletic talent and sportsmanship.
The event commenced on November 22, 2024, with participants from the under-14 and under-16 girls' categories showcasing their skills. The opening ceremony featured esteemed chief guest Mr Ranbir Singh Pathania, Hon'ble MLA Udhampur East and spokesperson of BJP in J&K. He was joined by guest of honour, Mr Gurcharan Singh, senior athletic coach of J&K Sports Council, and DIS Chairman Mr G.N.Tantray, who consistently inspires the younger generation with his wisdom and encouragement.
The Principal Dr. Vikesh Kaur, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests, setting the stage for a vibrant cultural presentation that highlighted the spirit of unity and teamwork, marked by the illumination of the ceremonial beacon.
The championship concluded on November 23, 2024, with an inspiring address from Chief Guest Mr Nizamuddin Bhat, MLA of Bandipora, who motivated the young athletes with his encouraging words. The competitive matches for the under-14 and under-16 boys' categories showcased remarkable talent and determination.

Throughout the event, Chairman Mr. G.N. Tantray expressed his deep appreciation for the teachers and staff of DIS, acknowledging their hard work and dedication in preparing the students for success. The successful execution of the championship was made possible under the diligent guidance of DIS Headmistress Ms Shivali Singh Pathania and Chief Coordinator Mr Surinder Singh.
