Srinagar, 05 Oct (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah Monday said that the greatest strength and success of any organisation lies in internal discipline and adherence to its constitution and rules. He said that the Naya Kashmir Manifesto, the party’s agenda and its Constitution are the organisation’s greatest assets and it is the fundamental responsibility of every person associated with the party to follow these principles and guidelines in letter and spirit.
Dr Farooq Abdullah made these remarks while addressing a special meeting of the members of the Srinagar District Working Committee, including all the Party’s MLAs from the district, at the Party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subah Complex.
Party General Secretary Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar, Provincial President Showkat Ahmad Mir, Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, MLA Eidgah Haji Mubarak Gul, MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous, MLA Chanapora Mushtaq Guroo, MLA Hazratbal Salman Ali Sagar, MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardesi, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Mudassar Shahmiri, Minority Cell Convener Jagdish Singh Azad, Provincial President Women’s Wing Er Sabia Qadri, Provincial President YNC Mushtaq Mir and all block presidents were present in the meeting. Dr Farooq Abdullah urged Party office-bearers and workers to discharge their responsibilities at every level and at all times in accordance with the Party Constitution.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said that the founder of the movement, Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, repeatedly emphasised the golden principle that “people are the source of power and sovereignty belongs to the people.” He said every person associated with the Party must make these principles the foundation of their political and organisational work.
Dr Farooq Abdullah stressed the need to acquaint the younger generation with the history of Kashmir, saying that unfortunately, many young people today are not fully aware of their history or the circumstances through which the Kashmiri people have passed. He said the younger generation needs to be made aware of the extent of oppression, repression, exploitation, poverty, deprivation, helplessness and marginalisation suffered by the people of Kashmir, and how they were deprived of their basic human and political rights during the era of autocratic rule.
Dr Farooq directed party workers to maintain close and continuous contact with the people and make every possible effort to address their issues and difficulties. He said public service has always remained the core objective of the National Conference’s politics, and Party workers must stand with the people in their times of difficulty, take up their concerns at the appropriate forums and make sincere efforts towards their resolution.
He said the present National Conference Government is functioning under extremely difficult circumstances within the UT system and with severely limited powers, often having to operate “on the edge of a sword.” Despite these constraints, the Government is utilising all available resources and limited powers to provide maximum relief to the people, improve basic amenities and advance the developmental process.(KNS)
