EOW files chargesheet against accused in job fraud

Srinagar, Dec 31(KNS): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Budgam, in a cheating case involving an alleged job scam, officials said.

The chargesheet has been submitted in connection with FIR No. 13/2023 registered under Section 420 of the IPC against Ghulam Nabi Hudda, son of Mohammad Hudda, a resident of Satakchay in Kargil, presently residing at Gasiyar Hawal, Zadibal, Srinagar.

According to officials, the case was registered following a written complaint alleging that the accused, during 2021, approached the complainant and others by falsely projecting himself as a high-ranking government officer.
He allegedly assured them of securing government jobs in return for money.

Relying on these assurances, the complainant transferred lakhs of rupees into the accused’s bank account in nine separate instalments, officials said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHowever, the accused neither arranged the promised employment nor returned the money, despite repeated demands.

Following the complaint, the Crime Branch Kashmir, now functioning as the EOW Kashmir, conducted an investigation. Officials said the probe prima facie substantiated the allegations and established that the accused had deliberately deceived the complainant with dishonest intent, causing financial loss.

On completion of the investigation, the EOW found sufficient evidence to prosecute the accused under Section 420 IPC, following which the chargesheet was filed before the court for judicial proceedings, officials added.(KNS)
