Handwara/Baramulla, Oct 21(KNS): Member of Parliament Er Rashid visited key development sites and educational institutions today, inspecting ongoing projects and addressing local concerns while committing to take up pressing issues with the government.
Er Rashid began his day with a visit to the Batagund Bridge in Langate, where he inspected the progress of construction. Authorities briefed the MP on the status of the work and assured him that the bridge would be completed and opened to the public by 15th November.
Later, Er Rashid visited Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, where he chaired a review meeting with the Principal of GMC Baramulla and the Medical Superintendent of the Associated Hospital. During the meeting, Er Rashid was briefed on the ongoing works and later visited various sites to review the construction and operational progress at both the college and the hospital. He praised the institution's critical role in serving the healthcare needs of the region and assured the administration that their issues, including infrastructure and staffing, would be taken up with the government for prompt resolution.
Following this, Er Rashid visited Government Degree College Handwara, where he interacted with staff and students. The students expressed concerns about the drawbacks of continuing with the March academic session, noting how it has disrupted their academic rhythm and wasted time.

He pointed out that both the ruling and opposition parties acknowledge that the March session has caused significant disruption, and urged the government to promptly announce a return to the November session. To support the college, Er Rashid sanctioned a bus for the institution and ?2 lakh for the purchase of library books.
Er Rashid also visited the Bar Association in Handwara, where he listened to the concerns of the association's members. He assured them that he would raise their issues with the Law Department for necessary action. As part of his support, he sanctioned ?4 lakh for the development of the Handwara Court's library.
Er Rashid concluded his visit with a comprehensive review meeting in Handwara, attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara and senior district officials. A detailed discussion was held on various ongoing projects in the area, with deadlines set for their completion. Er Rashid emphasized the importance of timely project execution to ensure effective service delivery to the people of Handwara.(KNS).
