Commemorating the 137th Birth Anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan

 Srinagar Dec 28(KNS)The Division of Agriculture Statistics & Economics at the Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura SKUAST-Kashmir successfully organized a one-day National Conference cum Awareness Programme on “Mathematics in Daily Life” funded by JKDST,to honor the 137th birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The event began with a welcome address by the Dr. Fehim J. Wani, who highlighted the enduring contributions of Ramanujan to the field of mathematics and its practical relevance in everyday life.

Prof. Raihana Habib Kanth, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, delivered special remarks, underscoring the importance of nurturing mathematical thinking among students and researchers for solving real-world challenges. Prof. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Head of Division & Organizer of the event, introduced the programme, providing an overview of its objectives and the significance of mathematics in diverse aspects of life. The conference featured an array of insightful lectures: Prof. W.M.Shah, Former Dean & Head Department of Math, CUK, Kashmir presented a thought-provoking session on “Mathematics in Kashmir,” exploring the region’s rich mathematical heritage.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelProfessor Rahul Gupta, Rector Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu discussed the “Relationship between Mathematics and Statistics” and their interplay in data-driven decision-making. Prof. Parmil Kumar, Head Department of Statistics, University of Jammu elaborated on “Mathematics in the Modern World,” showcasing its applications in technology, science, and innovation.

Prof. D.S.Hooda, Former Pro VC, Kurekshetra University delivered an inspiring lecture on the “Importance of Mathematics” and its transformative potential in society. The event also featured words of wisdom from the Mr. Javid Ahmad Najar, Chief Planning Officer Baramulla, who encouraged participants to adopt mathematics as a critical tool for innovation and intellectual growth.

The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sajad Saraf who expressed gratitude to all speakers, participants, and organizers for their contributions to making the event a success. The programme served as a tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan’s unparalleled legacy and a platform to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for the role of mathematics in everyday life.(KNS)
